This apartment by Finchatton has a calm and luxurious feel with help from the abundant natural light and neverending stunning sea and marina views

Orchid Apartment V is a new residence designed by international design and development firm, Finchatton. Completed in November 2015, the apartment has a prime position within the super-yacht marina at Albany, the luxury resort community on Providence Island in The Bahamas which is jointly owned by Joe Lewis’ Tavistock Group, Tiger Woods and Ernie Els.

The resort includes spacious beachfront villas, multiple fine dining restaurants, a fitness centre designed for professional athletes, a championship golf course and equestrian centre.
The Orchid building, which has nine private apartments, was designed by award winning New York architects Morris Adjmi, and features a laser cut stainless steel arched facade in an abstracted orchid pattern which recalls the wrought iron balconies of the French Quarter in Adjmi’s native New Orleans.

The 7,775 sq ft marina- and ocean-facing apartment was interior-designed by Finchatton to create a substantial private residence with contemporary living spaces in this exclusive location. Jiin Kim-Inoue, Design Director for the project comments: ‘At Orchid Apartment V, our aim was to create the sophisticated and timeless interiors which Finchatton are known for but at the same time, we did not want to create a London apartment in the Caribbean. The quality of light is so different that we got to use colours and textures that we don’t normally get to use. It was such a fun and exciting project to be involved with!’

Situated on the fourth floor of the Orchid building, the apartment features a 3,540 sq ft wraparound terrace which floods the apartment with light and stunning sea and marina views from every room. Dark wood decking and fabulous contemporary furniture make this a breath-taking space to enjoy, that complements the interior design to seamlessly bring the outside in to the apartment. Of the six bedrooms, the well-appointed master suite with bedroom, study, dressing room, and bathroom, also features a private terrace area with its own bar and Jacuzzi spa. Further bedrooms are also en-suite, two of which include private dressing rooms. Served directly by two residents’ lifts, the apartment also features a spacious 240 sq ft entrance lobby, dining room, high specification indoor and outdoor kitchens, media room and a reception room with full-height glass doors leading onto the terrace.

Finishes throughout the apartment include contemporary Crema Bottocino and Pietra Grey marble flooring, dark timber doors, oak veneer flooring, and bespoke joinery, giving a cool and contemporary feel to the interior. The voluminous rooms are light and airy, with individually zoned ventilation and comfort cooling systems in addition to a home automation system ensuring technically advanced living accommodation. The neutral colour palette allows the wonderful sea blues of the exterior views to really stand out and gives the whole apartment a very calm and luxurious feel.

Christopher Anand, Managing Partner of Albany, commented: ‘We are thrilled to have Finchatton design a residence at Albany. We have long admired their work and know it will resonate with our buyers who seek and recognise that level of quality.’
